It’s that time of year again!
Thanksgiving preparations, fall festivals, and of course, Grammy nominations! On the morning of Friday, November 8th, the complete list of music nominees was released to the public, and oh, what a list! This year’s nominees, from pop princess Sabrina Carpenter to BRAT summer icon Charli XCX, serve as a clear indicator of recent female success in the music industry.
From what we’ve seen, Beyonce is leading with 11 nominations for the release of her chart-topping album “Cowboy Carter,” with Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Charli XCX tying for seven.
The three breakout male artists of the year can be found in Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, and Shaboozey, each receiving nominations for the category of “Best New Artist.” Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Khruangbin, and Raye represent the females who, quite iconically, cover a majority of the nominees for every category.
One of the most anticipated awards in the ceremony is “Album of the Year,” which has been historically recognized as a Taylor Swift-dominated category. With four wins, Swift once again holds a nomination for her recent release of “The Tortured Poets Department” and waits alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Jacob Collier, Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Andre 3000, Beyonce, and Billie Eilish.
Set to take place on February 2nd, 2025 in Los Angeles, the Grammys ceremony is sure to induce a plethora of of nail-biting anticipation and excitement. While we wait in suspense for three more months, we can also head back over to our beloved Spotify app and blast Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” for the millionth time (we’ve all done it).
