At the start of a new school year, there are always new students… but also new teachers! Everyone, meet Ms. Rew! She’s not only new to the school, but she is also introducing a new class that has never been seen at West Boca: Forensics!
To also introduce the new course, Forensics, there are some things you need to keep in mind. Forensics class is a science course that applies the principles of biology, chemistry, and physics to crime scene investigation and evidence analysis. Some things students will learn are how to collect and preserve evidence, apply the scientific method to solve mock crimes, and develop thinking and observational skills. If you have a passion for criminology, this class is perfect for you and will help you greatly in college!
Ms. Rew studied Forensic Pathology in college and has been teaching for 15 years now. She is super excited to be here at West Boca. Before coming here, she was originally a Forensics teacher at Olympic Heights High School. So far, she loves teaching at West Boca! She says that the students and staff are super welcoming. She can tell the students are eager to learn all about this class! The reason she decided to transfer was simply for the students’ education. She wants the students at West Boca to focus on topics like data analysis, policy development, crime prevention strategy, and applying criminological observational skills to real-world issues. Other classes would never give that type of material, which is why Forensics is such an eye-catching course.
Ms. Rew has the hope that her past, current, and future students pursue a criminology career and take what she teaches in the class into the real world. The criminology career path branches out to many different careers. Studying that course can allow you to become law enforcement, crime scene/criminal investigator, forensic scientist, correctional treatment specialist, and many more.
After all the teaching and investigating, Ms. Rew loves to play sports. Not one, but three sports! She enjoys playing and coaching volleyball, soccer, and softball. Even after hours of playing, she just can’t get enough! She also loves to watch sports just as much as she likes to play them.
Everyone is super excited to have Ms. Rew teaching her first year at West Boca and letting students explore a unique course that not many know about. If you see her around the school, make sure to give her a warm welcome!
