Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios is the ultimate Halloween event, where the park transforms into its scary atmosphere. Every year, there are new houses based on the most popular horror movies, TV shows, and original stories, along with scare zones filled with characters roaming around. The atmosphere is intense, with detail in every set and every house; the sound effects and scare effects, such as roaming actors, only add to the frightening experience.
After attending Halloween Horror Nights there is a lot to be discussed. Let’s recap! The main houses this year were the Terrifier house, Jason Universe, and Five Nights at Freddy’s. These houses provided a scary atmosphere while also providing the thrill everyone looks forward to! Personally, I think the Terrifier house was my favorite, with Jason Universe being a close second. The Terrifier house was very immersive and had a lot of fan favorite scenes from the movie. Some of these scenes include the famous bathtub scene that everyone loves. Some said that the bathroom section of the house had a strong smell, as if someone had actually passed away in there. From personal experience, it was only a light stench. At the end of the house, you were able to choose between a wet path and a dry path, people tend to have different experiences where they either get soaking wet or only slightly wet. The Jason Universe was the scariest to me, with all the jump scares and the dark atmosphere. Jason Universe had multiple rooms and in each was a Jason look-alike ready to jump out and scare you. In the Five Nights at Freddy’s house, there were life-size animatronics, including Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica, which took guests through the popular movie scenes. Most of the scenes were based on the new movie adaptation and included areas such as an arcade referencing some of the HHN team members.
Every year, there is a theme that will connect back to literature. This year the theme was “The Conservatory” an art deco theme that traces back to the 1800s ,where death was made into art. Halloween Horror Nights has been around for 34 years and throughout those years has managed to circle the event back to history/literature. Now tying that into modern-day horror, HHN (Halloween Horror Nights) has done a great job at making the actors scary and gory while keeping the theme of art and beauty within the dead.
Here are some things to think about when going to Halloween Horror Nights. Ask a friend to come with you. It becomes really fun when you go with a group of friends or even just one. Also, don’t be shy when going through the scare zones! Ask an actor for a photo or scare them back; it just adds to the fun!
