A B.T.S. Look into our School Cafeteria Staff!
October 25, 2022
Introducing West Boca High’s very own, Mrs. Pare and the cafeteria staff! While Pare might not be a new staff member, her contribution to our school has gone long unnoticed. Read below to learn more about what and how our cafeteria staff provides to the 1,200 students that eat school lunch!
How long have you been in your current position?
“I’ve been here for 3 years, but I’ve worked in Washington D.C. ‘s schools for 5 years prior.”
What is your favorite meal to prepare?
“The Stromboli, only because the kids LOVE it. When I can make something that you guys like, it’s my favorite thing to do.”
What are some of the difficulties that go into preparing free meals for every student?
“Getting product in. Some days they send me a substitution for something we are out of, and the kids might not like it. I always want to have something that you guys enjoy, and that is difficult to accomplish sometimes.”
If you could tell students that may not be aware of what goes into lunch one thing, what would you say?
“Be patient. Something that the students may not know is that we only have one lunch chef. This obviously hurts the amount of people we can serve and our efficiency, so definitely keep that in mind.”
I know the new ID requirement for lunch has some people confused. How does the ID policy affect students?
“Lunch is still free! There is some confusion as to why we require them, but they are only used to keep track of who gets lunch. I would love to get everyone in and out as fast as possible, but this is something that we have to do.”
Is there something else you would like to share?
“I’m just so happy to work at West Boca!”
I think everyone (including me) can agree that the Stromboli is amazing! West Boca is glad to have a group of hard-working cafeteria staff, so make sure to say hello when you see them!
