To all those unaware of the amazing cinematic masterpiece that recently graced our theatres. To those who have not yet experienced the emotional rollercoaster and awe-inspiring feelings of the new Wicked film. You need only know one thing, it was breathtaking!
The first looks of Wicked were seen at the New York premiere where the Broadway actors of the Wicked Musical got to experience the movie for the first time along with the actors. The videos released by the viewers after the first premiere were enough to get audiences excited for its official release to theatres.
At the official L.A premiere, TikTokers, influencers, and celebrities have not had a single critique for this movie and have even advocated for the film’s amazing quality, outstanding songs, amazing setting, and overall similarity to the Broadway original. After having watched the movie myself, I can truly say that it was the most incredible experience. That film truly made it to the top film of the year. The Wicked team created all real sets: Munchkin Land, Shiz University, Emerald City, the Emerald City Train, etc. giving the film an even brighter and more realistic look.
To add to this already amazing film, the main cast including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum all sang live. The absence of any autotune or studio enhancements to the vocal made it all sound more astonishing.
The film has only received the best reviews, and its advertisements and merchandising were clearly all worth it. The best part is that it isn’t over. The first Wicked film was only the beginning. Part 2 of Wicked is set to release on November 21st, 2025. Similar to how the Broadway musical would go into intermission halfway through, this film is having its audiences endure a year-long intermission until we get to see what happens next.
All I know is that since this movie came out something has changed within me and I, along with the rest of the world, have become obsessed. I cannot wait till part 2 comes flying across my theatre screen and until then I will be at the theatres re-watching the film and getting tickets to see the Broadway musical itself. I just know it’s going to grow into an even more popular franchise than it was before.
