Continuing her journey, Moana comes back to the big screen to give audiences a thrilling, exciting, musically enthralling adventure. With new characters and new enemies Moana has to venture through the sea another time to save her people and find others who may be lying beyond the reef.
Moana 2 was released to theatres on November 27, 2025, immediately capturing audience’s attention with their new songs and new funny side characters such as Kele, Loto, and Moni. With Moana, they traveled across the seas to create their own story. However, this movie begs the question, does it compare to the original? The new film does have its differences. For instance, Lin Manuel Miranda did not write the songs for this movie. Grammy Award-winning writers and musicians, Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, created the beautiful playlist for this new movie. The songs were exciting, energetic, and uplifting to represent Moana’s adventure through the sea. My friend and I visited our local cinema to watch this new film and see for ourselves whether it can compare to the OG.
Sabrina and I went together at the amazing SilverSpot at Coconut Creek, and we had a lot of fun. The ending was very emotional, and we were fighting to keep it together. We laughed a lot, and they had very good jokes.
We give it an 8/10. The songs were good, and we could see character development from Moana. It definitely took us out of our comfort zone as we are accustomed with the duo Moana and Maui only, but this time it’s a whole team on the adventure and it’s fun to see each character take their part in the plot. We had a fun time with lots of laughter and tears. We definitely recommend watching with your friends and/or family!
