This past February weekend, the West Boca Debate-a-Bulls competed at the prestigious Harvard National Speech and Debate tournament at the Harvard University campus in Massachusetts.
Twenty-two of West Boca’s best and brightest competed in speech and debate events such as Congressional Debate, Lincoln Douglas, Original Oratory, and Public Forum.
The Harvard National Speech and Debate tournament is the largest and most prestigious high school debate tournament in the country, providing opportunities for students to compete in a variety of individual and duo speech and debate events.
Senior Dylan Gaynor and Junior David Hain made it to the Varsity Congressional Debate Semifinals, beating out 260 other senators. In all, West Boca High ranked the 16th most successful team in the country out of 200 other high schools.

West Boca’s Speech and Debate Team has grown tremendously over the past few years, with new debate classes added last year. The team has a total of 75 talented members, dedicated board members, and hard-working coaches.
