Have you ever considered buying a Kindle? Look no further! I was personally in the same predicament which led to me purchasing one.
A Kindle is a lightweight, portable, wireless electronic device that you can read on that is produced by the company Amazon. Amazon released its first Kindle in 2007 (Kindle Generation 1) and since then it has been a hit!
I was always the type of person who loved holding the physical copy of the book in my hands and was afraid to make the change to a device. However, I ended up loving it due to many reasons.
Affordability
While the Kindle itself can cost up to $200 (lowest being $109 aka the Paperwhite 11th Gen), you will be saving tons of money instead of buying paperback books. This is especially if you invest in Kindle Unlimited ($11.99 a month) making the majority of books free to download. The cheapest I’ve purchased a paperback was probably $15. If I am buying 4 books a month I am already a little past half-way of the price of my Kindle in general. You can also access Kindle Unlimited on your phone through the Kindle app if you prefer to not buy the Kindle device itself.
Also, a tip regarding cost is to wait until there is an Amazon sale, the prices of the Kindles drop making it cheaper! Sometimes there is even a deal with 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free.
If you are an avid reader like myself, I would definitely invest into a Kindle for this reason.
Convenience and Comfort
One thing I love about my Kindle is the ease of being able to take it on the go. It is like carrying a library around. My Kindle is 6.8 inches long and weighs almost nothing. Other Kindle options are even smaller for easier storage. Furthermore, with the Paperwhite 11th gen being water resistant you can pretty much take it anywhere.
Additionally the comfort of holding my Kindle is amazing! With a regular book you can’t comfortably lay down in bed and binge your favorite series. A Kindle makes it super easy to hold while also being comfortable.
Accessible Features
There are a lot of neat features that you can customize in your Kindle’s settings. Some of these features include font type, font size, brightness/warmth, dark mode, reading times, and access to a dictionary or translation for any words in your book.
My favorite features have to be the brightness/warmth and reading times. The brightness can be manipulated so you can read in the dark! The warmth can be changed too which is where you can make the screen more true toned to help not strain your eyes. The read times can be displayed on the bottom of your Kindle and can tell you how much longer is in the book total or left in the chapter depending on which you prefer. I love this feature especially when reading at night because I can time if I can finish the chapter before bed.
Decorating (optional)
If you are someone who loves decorating, a Kindle can be really customizable to your style. You can get cases, stickers, and charms. I typically buy my cases off of Etsy. Many of the sellers on Etsy have a lot of different options that are super cute and can fit anyone’s style. I will say the prices are around $20 but definitely worth it since it also serves to protect your Kindle from falls.
As a Kindle owner, I recommend purchasing one if you are an avid reader. I do not regret making the switch from physical books to e-books!
