All the way from Nairobi, Kenya, Sophia Mundi is currently a sophomore here at West Boca High School and is our newest edition to The Bullseye! Born on October 17th, 2009, Sophia has been her kind-hearted, humorous, and curious self ever since!
Since her move from Kenya to the Sunshine State of Florida, around 2 years ago, Sophia has explored the differences between living in the U.S. and Africa. She is fluent in both English and Swahili, and one of the things that was significantly shocking to her was how the schools are run. But, Sophia is doing her best in getting involved and adapting to American culture. She has participated in clubs such as HOSA and Key Club and is part of the Medical Academy.
Sophia’s love for medicine comes from her mother. Her mom works as a nurse here in Boca, and Sophia admires her dedication and compassion towards her job and the people she works with. One day, Sophia aspires to be a doctor and be just as loving and hardworking as her mom, and help others every step of the way.
With her enthusiasm to try new things, Sophia joined The Bullseye and is eager to explore different paths and dive into her creative side! Films are one of Sophia’s biggest passions. So, she’s mainly looking forward to writing about entertainment, mostly movies and TV shows, and keeping us up to date with the latest Box Office news and reviews.
Sophia’s a horror guru, with her favorite genres being mystery and suspense. She enjoys watching shows like Dexter and The Hollow; however, Spirited Away, the whimsical and beautiful film, is Sophia’s favorite- talk about having good taste! When she’s not finding new movies to watch, Sophia also enjoys baking, spending time with her family, and listening to music, one of her favorite artists being PARTYNEXTDOOR. Sophia is very family-oriented, and if she had one last day on earth, she said she’d definitely go back to Kenya to be with her family and watch a movie with her cousins.
Sophia is so excited to explore journalism at The Bullseye, make new friends, improve her writing skills, and show us all she’s got!
