Did you happen to notice all the toy drive signs during December around school? Every year Mrs. Zamora, the Pre-AICE Spanish 2 and AP Spanish Lang teacher, hosts a toy drive around school to collect toys for less fortunate kids. On December 21st, she recruited all her Spanish National Honor Society members to become elves for the morning at The Caridad Center and Soup kitchen. Even though all members attended, any student was more than welcome to go and help out, and the turn out was amazing. When students arrived in the morning, there were multiple trucks waiting to be unloaded full of toys. It was a cloudy and rainy day, but that did not stop the kids from having an amazing day and leaving with smiles on their faces.

Toys were divided into their appropriate age groups and categories, ranging from newborns to teenagers. Kids went with their families to receive gifts and eat treats, ready to have a fun holiday celebration. Each family was assigned an elf to walk around the tent with and choose some toys. While some volunteers assisted the families, others were assigned to different stations to do face painting and pass out gifts.

Thank you Mrs. Zamora, for hosting the Spanish National Honor Society and providing students with this amazing opportunity.
