Pep Rally Schedule Change: How Do We Feel?

Pep+Rally+Schedule+Change%3A+How+Do+We+Feel%3F

Have you heard about the new pep rally schedule? Friday, there will be a pep rally during 7th period.  Fortunately for those who have 7th period off, you can stay during lunch and sit in the cafeteria OR you can miss the pep rally and go home.  We conducted a Q&A with Ms. Ostrow

Q. Can juniors and seniors come back after lunch for the pep rally?

A. No, students who do not have a 7th period will have to stay for lunch and report to the cafeteria when the bell rings for 7th period. When the announcement is called to be released for the pep rally, students must leave their bags in the cafeteria where someone will be supervising them.  Students MAY NOT go off campus for school safety reasons.

Q. What led to the discussion of moving the pep rally to the 7th period?

A. Teachers and students have been concerned about missing 5th period instructional time. So for the pep rally schedule they altered the bells to accommodate these requests. This change was made to help even out the class time missed and the necessity of time as we approach midterms.

Q. Were seniors and juniors considered when making this decision?

A. Yes, it was considered. And this is the first time we are trying this. There are several students who have been overwhelmed when inside the gym for pep rallies because of the amount of people and how loud it gets.  Although, if this does not end up being the best outcome we are open minded to changing it again.

Ms. Stein said that because of this change it will also benefit the students in SGA who work hard to set up, and will give them additional time to set all the decorations up. In addition, they will be able to have a run though to ensure everything works and will give less time for mistakes. This new pep rally schedule will allow for students, Junior and seniors included,  to create an exciting atmosphere throughout the day and celebrate 7th period in preparation for the basketball game that evening.  SGA chose to do the pep rally this week rather then later on because Ms. Stein knows how important it is to have the week before midterms to be able to review; this way teachers can wrap up the semester with their students while still fitting in the second quarter pep rally.

SGA is hoping that they will be able to fit in two more pep rallies but is sure of at least adding one more.  For all freshman and sophomores wear white, juniors and seniors wear blue for the Winter Wonderland pep rally!
