Ms. Malek is a gleeful and caring woman who loves to connect with as many students as she possibly can, which adds on to the great things she will accomplish this year. She enjoys “creating unique opportunities for our students to connect with local community members to gain an understanding of what resources they are able to have access to once they move beyond our walls.”
She is on a roll this year tackling three jobs all at once. Not only is she the new S-V assistant principal this year, but she has also been the School Choice coordinator and Careers in Technical Education (CTE) coordinator since 2021. Even though she is extremely busy, anyone can pass by her in the courtyard and spot a bright smile on her face. Through her continued passion, she is able to set up relationships with her students and get them more encouraged about learning. With these many jobs, Ms. Malek handles the marketing for new students contemplating coming to West Boca in the future along with being in charge of the Medical, Science, and ESOL department as an assistant principal.
Education wise, Ms. Malek started her learning journey at Highland Park High School. She later went on to get an undergraduate degree with a major in Communications and a minor in Spanish & Film at Tulane University. For her first Masters degree she went to NYU to get a “Master of Arts with a concentration in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)” which she used to begin work in marketing and Public Relations in New York City. After about six months Educational Leadership. From there she built up a career that makes her happy to get her to where she is today.
In her personal life Ms. Malek has two beautiful kids; an 8 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. She is also hoping to add a dog to her family soon. Her roots go back to Highland Park, IL where she was raised and South Side, Chicago where she was born. Her life has taught her to make jokes when stressed so she doesn’t stay in a bad mood. Ms. Malek said that the “Growth Mindset” which she was taught while at FAU helped teach her “the ability to process life’s uncomfortable moments (fights, trouble) and reflect on these moments by envisioning scenarios” not only through her own eyes but through someone else’s. She strives on understanding that what she might perceive from one interaction might not always be what someone else’s perspective of the interaction was.
