West Boca High School’s football team just released the first two episodes of a six-episode series highlighting the success from the recent seasons. The documentary captures how our school’s team came to have the success it has now. Before our head coach Potts came in, our school had a reputation for being one of the lowest scoring schools in Palm Beach County. In 2022, Coach Potts came to West Boca to improve and build a community here. Since then, 4 years later, we are back-to-back state champions, have had a undefeated season, and are now getting ready to have another amazing 2026 season.
The documentary started with football’s media director Corey Cola Jr. at our first State championship, where he was introduced to Coach Potts and made an amazing video of the game. Since then, Corey has made and produced lots of films for the team. This led to the idea with Coach Potts on making a documentary to tie everything together. The documentary’s goal is to show how the team became winners because the history of the team wasn’t where it is today. The players who were in the documentary each had an important role. Some players to mention are Javian Mallory, who has had an important role being there since freshman year, and is now a 4-star recruit, going to the University of Miami. Trey Moran is our main quarterback. Jamar Thompson, being a 4-star defensive lineman, dominated during the season. Billy Clancy III is the leading receiver in yards. Jayden is also a 4-star cornerback committed to Louisville.
While filming the documentary, Corey said, “Working with West Boca was an amazing experience because I got to know and understand this generation of players and their mindset. Seeing the players become where they are now and becoming high-level athletes is one of the best parts.” Filming this documentary had a lot of highs and lows, capturing everyone’s emotions. This season had many highlights, and each has had an important part in capturing this documentary. Corey’s favorite part was at the Armwood Semifinals game because “the game was very intense and since it was an out-of-district game, driving up and being able to see the team succeed and win.”
