The album earned nearly 63.05 million streams on Spotify on its first day, and fans were also given a premiere of KISSCO or KATTDO (the two ways fans have been calling the new album) on Netflix all the way from Manchester, where Harry showcased his album for the first time together with fans.
Track 2-
American Girls is the second song on the album which got a video clip where we see Harry’s self-reflection while he sees 3 of his closest friends getting married, ‘’My friends are in love with American girls.’’ This song is about his desire to have something deeper and long-lasting, after he’s noticed how his friends are going with their lives, and their girls. He saw every small step they lived with their lovers, ‘’ I’ve seen it in stages all over the world,’’ and so this song is about realizing people around you are in love and evolving; Harry sings about realizing that maybe he too should settle down, it’s a conscious reassessment of his life.
Track 7-
Season 2 Weight Loss is the seventh song in the album, but personally, one of my favorites. Though the name of the song gives off an impression that the song has something to do with physical weight loss, it is a metaphor for people acquiring confidence in the public eye and amongst their fame, ‘’It’s hard to tell when the thoughts are my own.’’ This song is very important to the album because it talks about Harry coming back from his 4 years absence in the public eye, ’’You’ve got to sit yourself down sometimes,’’ coming back as a stronger version of himself. The song’s title is a play on words, since when the first season of a show ends, everyone is excited for the next one to come, to see how the characters grew and evolved, ‘’Do you love me now?’’
Track 8-
Coming Up Roses is the eighth song on the album and one of the most emotional songs on the tracklist. The song started as a Christmas song idea captured in the line ‘’It’s that time of year,’’ but eventually the idea evolved into a softer and more reflective song. The eighth track has a whimsical and flying through the clouds feeling, created by the layering of violins and other string instruments that created such an atmosphere, making the song stand out from the others on the tracklist. The lyricism in the song also affects the love the song has been receiving from fans. Lines like ‘’I’ll talk your ear off about why it’s safe, as I fumble my words and fall flat on my face through the truth,’’ capture the yearning and raw emotions from the song, making it widely relatable and personal at the same time to all listeners.
Track 12-
Carla’s Song is the last in the album, yet it is the perfect closing for Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. In the ‘‘Harry Styles. One Night In Manchester’’ his premiere of the album on Netflix, Harry says that the song came to be when he watched a friend of his discover a song that went beyond culture or time, she simply enjoyed listening to what she discovered, ‘’You’ve been sleepin’ in a candy bar, ‘Til your eyes open on the changing summer light.’’ He remembered why he loves being involved in the music industry, why he loves to write songs. This track is about the appreciation of music, the love for songs you haven’t even discovered yet, but it’s all waiting there for you.
So go on and listen to HS4 and enjoy every minute of it!
