Everyone Deserves A Break!

Sofia Sierra, Reporter

It is T-minus one day until the start of spring break! We have a whopping ten days to live under the sun with no pressure from school…until our final exams begin. Yet, this makes it even more important to enjoy our time away.

Although many of us will be leaving school on Thursday, or earlier, FBLA and the Drama Department will continue to be hard at work. The Drama Department is currently in Tampa to perform their state-judged production of 1776, and Future Business Leaders of America will be speaking at their State Leadership Conference Friday, March 24th. Wish them all good luck!

Next weeks’ weather will be rainy and in the 70s’ but there are still so many things to do. The local movie theaters will be releasing multiple movies this week, including Shazam: Fury of the Gods, Scream VI, Creed III, and Cocaine Bear. If the movies aren’t calling your name, Netflix and many other streaming services are releasing new binge-worthy shows. The Mandalorian season 3 recently premiered along with You season 4 part 2 and The Last of Us season finale. Ted Lasso season 3 premieres today and Shadow and Bone season 2 premieres tomorrow. There are plenty of shows to watch when it rains, but if you want to leave your home, there are many upcoming events around town.

St. Patrick’s Day is this Friday, so even if you are not Irish, you know there will be parties. St. Patrick’s Wynwood in Miami is open to the public, with a snazzy DJ, stunning art, and full of culture, it will sure be fun. But if you cannot travel too far out, Publix’s Greenwise Market at Lakeside Center will be throwing a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration with live music and free foods, and The Irishmen on Boca Raton Boulevard will have music performances, Irish bagpipers, and giveaways all day. If St. Patrick’s Day does not spark your interest, there are plenty of other events coming up. The Innings concert in Tampa will be this weekend, with special guests Pitbull, Weezer, and Imagine Dragons. The West Boca Fam Festival will be this weekend with live music, bouncy houses, a silent disco, and a nerf gun battle.

Besides these events, Boca is home to so many other entertaining options. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a classic. It is a great opportunity to get out and explore nature, and you can even volunteer if you need hours soon. Mizner Park in East Boca is home to many shopping excursions, new classy restaurants, and cute cafes. Sugar Sand Park by I-95 is a great family-friendly spot to bring your family and friends. They have a science center, nature emporium, and a carousel.

Florida is home to so many exciting places that are waiting to be explored. This spring break I encourage you all to get out and explore the unknown, but like most, we will probably all be in a sleep, eat and repeat mood. Make sure to enjoy your time away and have a wonderful spring break!
