Girls Golf 9-1 Streak Continues

Girls+Golf+9-1+Streak+Continues
Rebecca Kittay

The girls played their last match Wednesday, October 19.  Also, they came in third place in Districts. Catherine Andino won district with an even 70 and Madison Lowenstein with a 76 came in second. This is now back to back district wins, and will be competing in Orlando.

The Girls’ Varsity Golf team had an amazing season. A win streak of 9 and a loss of 1.

Co-Captain Rebecca Kittay said “I am so excited that our team will have our first opportunity to travel and compete as a team.  We made it to Regionals last year and I am hoping as a team we will be able to advance to States.  Of my four years here this is one of the best seasons that the West Boca golf team has had and I am hoping that we can keep advancing.”

Co-captain Madison Lowenstein said “Very excited to be able to get the opportunity to go play with the team in Orlando. We played pretty well in districts but can do a lot better in regionals.”

Assistant coach Dave Lowinstein said “the team has worked hard to prepare for districts and regionals. As the season progressed, the entire team improved their games. This led to a successful district performance.  The coaches are excited to see the team compete in regionals.”

Coach Bonina said “Our record is 9-1. I am so proud of how the girls finished the season. I think we have good talent but it’s important that the girls make sure they stay mentally tough for us to achieve more success. The team finishing 3rd place gives the whole team an opportunity to go to regionals which is wonderful in St.Cloud.  It is terrific that freshman Catherine Andino won the districts shooting a 70.   That’s 2 years in a row a West Boca player has won districts with Madison winning Last year. Excited for the team to experience regionals and of course would love if the team gets to go to states.”

The Girls will be going to Regionals Monday, October 30th. Good Luck girls!
