West Boca Improves to 5-1 After a 36-0 Win Over Deerfield Beach

West Boca continued their winning ways on Friday night against Deerfield Beach despite the very rainy weather.

Led by Mason Mallory’s three touchdowns and Javian Mallory’s two touchdowns, the Bulls beat the Bucks 36-0.

“The boys came out in the first half and really played well”, head coach Dylan Potts said after the game. “It got sloppy at time… wet conditions, all that kind of stuff, but we prevailed. The defense held strong. We made some good plays… we made some mistakes.”

West Boca’s win marks their first district win of the season (1-0).

“At the end of the day, any time you get a district win, you are always leaving here happy against a Deerfield team that came out and fought very hard”, Potts said.

Speaking of being happy, West Boca has to be pleased with their two stars: the Mallory cousins.

Mason Mallory played turnover-free football, completing 10-of-19 passes for 85 yards and three touchdowns. Due to the rain, the longest passing play of the night was only 15 yards.

But when it’s raining hard, you have to always rely on your ground game. The ground game was consistently producing all night as the Bulls rushed for 215 yards.

Four-star running back Javian Mallory, who has offers from Miami, FSU, Georgia, and Ohio State, ran the ball 14 times for 150 yards and a touchdown. He also had a highlight reel hurdle over a Deerfield defender.

Javian Mallory now has 14 touchdowns on the season in only six games. He was named Florida’s best running back in the class of 2026 for a reason.

The Bulls will now have a bye week to prepare for their biggest matchup of the season: Coconut Creek.

When asked about what his team is going to work on during the bye week, Coach Potts said the following:

“It’s more so with us just showing up everyday and putting in the work. We got our blueprint for how we want to play football… we are going to play defense and run the football. If we can do those two things every game, I think we are going to be in every game and have a chance to win.”

The matchup isn’t just great because Coconut Creek is one of South Florida’s best teams. It is truly an important matchup because it is a must-win game for West Boca; it’s a district game.

“When you are getting ready to play a team like Coconut Creek, who is nationally ranked, it’s going to be the team that’s more disciplined… we just got to have a great two weeks of practice to get ready for them”, Coach Potts said.

If West Boca manages to win, they will be the front-runners to win the district (3M District 10), meaning the Bulls would have their first playoff berth since 2013.

Coconut Creek beat West Boca last year 50-0 (Javian Mallory was out with injury), so the Bulls will surely come for revenge this year, but it will have to be on the road.
