The National English Honor Society honors all of their new members!

The National English Honor Society is proud to welcome their new members for their 2023-2024 academic year! In honor of the ceremony, Alexa Berk and Nihiria Kulkarni were happy to spread the word on the mission and goals of NEHS.

Before we begin, National English Honor Society is an exclusive international organization, making each one of its members esteemed in the English category. All members have to maintain a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 overall, and a minimum English GPA of 3.5, in addition to completing the application process.

National English Honor Society’s mission is “to encourage interest and promote excellence in the English language and literature, as well as, promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its membership.” Many of the board members’ favorite aspect of NEHS is the ability to collaborate with classmates and share their love for helping the community.

One of NEHS’ main goals for this school year is to create a donation based “little library” that can house books donated by the community. The board believes it will be a great way to encourage reading and sharing interests with others.

Besides this, the board members are most excited about their events with the SOS Children’s Village. Their mission is “to provide a family-oriented community offering healing, hope, and home for children, young adults, and families to become self-sufficient, contributing members to society.” Alexa Berk, the President of NEHS, finds their goal is “to aid in the success of their mission. By reading and doing activities with these children, we can do just that!”

If you weren’t able to apply to the National English Honor Society for this school year, the board encourages all rising seniors and juniors to give it a try and apply next year!

Hii, my name is Sofia Sierra and I am a junior here at West Boca. This is my second year on The Bullseye where I plan on writing entertainment and current event pieces. I am the president of West Boca’s Film Club and am on the soccer team and the track and field team. Outside of school, I volunteer at Sugar Sand Park, paint, play video games, and watch movies. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, playing with my dogs, and traveling. In the future I hope to make big advances in science as a researcher and psychologist.
